How quickly can we build
Construction speed is an important factor for consumers. Which we honestly find a little odd, because a full new build projects takes a year at least, usually two years and sometimes up to three years. Making designs, doing calculations, getting permits, sometimes it seems to take ages, and so we do not always understand why we should do the actual construction in just a few weeks when the entire project takes two years anyways.
On the other had, after having waited and waited and worked and waited a bit more until you finally have all your documents and permits, you want your house, rapido. No more waiting. OK, we understand that too.
So how quickly can we build a casco house on top of an existing foundation? That depends on the construction method. If we build a log house it usually is anywhere between five weeks and twelve weeks, depending on the size of the house and the size of the crew that we put on the assembly job.
But if we build a panel house (timber frame, ossature bois) then we can go… well maybe not at double speed, but we can go fast, very fast. These photos were all taken in the same week. Our crew arrived on Monday and started fastening the bottom beams on the foundation. By Thursday this is where we were: all walls installed, roof under construction.
